Recruitment Sources

Custom Mercenaries

The Custom Troops/Mercenaries (ingame called Freelancers, not to be confused with the Freelancer mod) are an additional, faction-independent troop tree which offers a variety of units for all purposes, yet not as specialized as the equivalent faction units.

In return the custom troops are customizable in their gear and equipment (to a certain extend) and are easily recruited through a traveller named Sigmund who is wandering Calradia and can be found at random in the tavern of any town. Additionally he is also for hire (although for a hefty fee) to reside in the player's court or a tavern of the player's choice.

Forced Recruiting

Originally we used Forced Recruits v2.0 by Utrehd and Topper, but overhauled the system for the Floris 2.5 release. With forced recruiting you can take a hostile action at a village to conscript several of their townsfolk against their will. This will have a negative impact on your relations with that town, but you will gain a larger number of troops.

Castle Recruiters

Through the Diplomacy's Constable, it is possible to send out recruiters which will collect each factions tier one unit by travelling from village to village until a player specified amount of units is reached. Afterwards they will return to fief they originated from. This way it is possible to recruit new units almost automatically while the player can direct his/her attention to other important matters at hand. Be advised thought, that these recruiter parties can be captured and/or killed by any hostile force while traveling and the invested denars are then lost.

Tavern Mercenaries

Each week and in each town's tavern there are always at least two different kinds of mercenaries to be met. One of them is always from the Swordsister troop tree and the other from the Mercenaries troop tree, but both of them are at random in their tier and amount of available units at the encounter. These mercenaries troops are very expensive to hire, have a high upkeep and are not necessarily as good as the equivalent faction unit, so use them wisely.
